Do you know of young people willing to rise to the challenge to spend just 48 hours the way that a billion people spend a lifetime?

    •   living in a temporary shelter
    •   eating a limited diet
    •   facing challenges and tough choices

They will help raise awareness and can be sponsored to raise money for some of the poorest people in the world.

All this is possible at our very own SLUM SURVIVOR event over the weekend of 12th – 14th June 2009 at Lytham St Anne’s. A school field will be transformed into a slum shanty town where young people will live, eat, sleep, have fun and learn more about the world’s poor. They will build their own temporary shelter. They will have to fetch and carry all their water for cooking, washing and drinking from a communal tap. They will have to take part in regular challenges throughout the weekend. This is the weekend of the Diocesan Big Day Out so during the day on Saturday 13th June they will also be able to join in some of the Big Day out activities.

Young people must be aged 16 – 24 to take part.  They need to register as soon as possible if they would like join in. Information including publicity, consent letters and other details about the weekend can be downloaded at www.bdeducation.org.uk/slum-survivor.html
