Children are welcome!

We love having lots of young people at our churches. Our young people play a full role in church life. You’ll find them welcoming, reading in church, helping serve refreshments, sharing what they’ve been learning and of course having lots of fun!
We have a dedicated team of children and youth leaders who ensure our children a safe, valued and well taught.

Children are present at the start and end of services but go out to their groups during the Bible reading, sermon and prayers.

Creche

During our 9.30am service we have a creche for toddlers and pre-school age children. This takes place in a room at the back of church. Parents are welcome to drop their children off if they feel comfortable. They usually start their time doing some dancing followed by a short Bible story and free-play.

Junior Sunday School

This take place in a school classroom during our 9.30am service and is for school age children up to age 11. They are currently learning from ‘The Biggest Story Curriculum’ which works through the whole Bible and shows how it all points to Jesus. This usually involves reading the Bible, talking about what they’ve read and doing some crafts and games.

Senior Sunday School

Our older children (age 11+) meet at the same time. They have an opportunity to talk about the Bible in more depth and think about how it applies to their lives. They are currently using Scripture Union teaching material to do this.

Youth Group (10-17s)

They meet at Redeemer Primary School every Tuesday night in term time from 7-8.30pm for games, activities, Bible study and snacks. There’s something to appeal to everyone and at least once a term, there’s a trip out. The Youth Group also go on residentials and holiday camps. Local Schools

We’re privileged to have strong partnership with our three local Primary Schools – Longshaw Infants, Longshaw Juniors and Redeemer Church of England School.

We are regularly invited to take collective worship and invite the school to join us for special services.

Residentials and Camps

Our young people have benefited hugely from weekend and summer camps. We partner with Yorkshire Camps and Sound Holidays to send leaders and young people on camp. Click on the video to get a feel for what happens.
