Hello!

Well done to all school staff who’ve made it to half-term. I hope you have a restful week ahead. Here’s what’s happening in the Benefice:

Sunday Services

9.30am – St. Bartholomew’s and Zoom

We’ll have the joy of seeing and supporting the Appleby family who will be baptised during this service.

11.15am – Church of the Saviour

7pm – Zoom only

The Zoom code for our Sunday services is below:

https://us02web.zoom.us/j/347838844

Meeting ID: 347 838 844

As always, it would be helpful if you could let me know you’re planning on coming to the building.

There will be no Sunday School until the 13th June when it will restart in the building.

Friday Live!

Friday Live! continues tonight, then has a two-week break restarting 18th June.

Please join us on the church hall at Saviour if you can.

Church Walks

We’re planning on getting together for a couple of walks now we’re allowed to meet outside in groups. Here’s the plan:

Saturday 29th May, 10am – Short, pushchair friendly walk around Calf Hey Reservoir (Direction: https://goo.gl/maps/TuRMFUFkeHy4G1FR9)

Saturday 5th June, 2pm – Longer 5 miles up Darwen Tower meeting at Sunnyhurst Wood Visitor Centre (park on the road at the top). A shorter route will be available.

If you’d like to come along, get in touch.

Unlocking and Attendance for School

We’re aiming for our churches to be ‘fully open’ from the 6th June. This means you don’t have to book to come along, although it would still be really helpful if you did. We will still have to maintain social distancing, face mask and have no singing or refreshments for the time being.

We are planning on opening up our Sunday School and Creche on the 13th June. If you’d like to chat through what these groups will look like then please get in touch.

It also means that from June parents who are hoping to register their attendance for 2020-21 need to come along in person and sign the attendance register in the foyer. If that is not going to be possible because of health reasons then please get in touch.

As always, these plans are subject to change depending on government guidance and the local situation.

Jonah in 6 minutes

It’s not just about a big fish (although it will make an appearance!)

Reflection

“I reared children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against me.”

Isaiah 1:2

As we started our new sermon series in Isaiah last week, we saw that God’s people had got themselves into a right state! They’d turned their back on the one who loved them. Any yet God still lovingly calls them back and offers them mercy. Find out more this Sunday.

In Christ,

Chris
